Call for Papers

WWRF and CSIR are partnering to organize the Wireless World Research Forum meeting WWRF40 in Durban, South Africa. The theme for the research Forum meeting is: 5G and Broadband Connectivity for All. The Organisers therefore invite academics, researchers and industrial representatives to share information and present results on Future Wireless Communication Systems, Networks and Services and to discuss critical business and regulatory aspects, advanced technology findings that will impact the deployment of 5G and enabling broadband connectivity for All. Technical papers describing recent research results and disruptive innovations in technologies, regulatory positions and business models are solicited. Contributions focusing on the WWRF 40th meeting theme 5G and Broadband Connectivity for All, particularly within the areas of WWRF’s existing Vertical Industry Platforms (VIPs) and Working Groups (WGs) are welcome.

This meeting will also host a special session on specific and relevant research work items covered by African academia.

All contributions that are accepted and presented at the meeting will be published on the WWRF website, and selected full papers of WWRF 40th will also be included in a special issue of IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine. Moreover selected contributions qualify for being part of WWRF Outlook series, the next edition of WWRF’s Book of Vision or for a new volumes in the WWRF Book Series.


Contributors should submit an extended abstract to the address for review. Extended abstracts should be at least two pages (A4 or Letter) in length, either in plain ASCII text, MS Word or Adobe PDF. A template for abstracts or papers is available on the web page
Upon acceptance of the extended abstract, authors can optionally submit a full paper to be evaluated for the selection of the best papers. Full papers must be prepared using the WWRF template, available on the web page and may be submitted for publication in the meeting proceedings in either Adobe PDF or MS Word format.

Copyright License

Please note that, by disclosing information to the WWRF that is deemed non-confidential, in accordance with Section 8 of the WWRF Articles of Association available at, authors grant the WWRF permission to use such information as described in the WWRF copyright licence template, available in the box on this page.

Authors must complete and submit a copyright licence along with their full paper.

Contributions submitted without a completed and signed copyright licence cannot be presented, and will not be published in the meeting proceedings or in WWRF’s Book of Visions.  Abstracts do not require a copyright licence.

Student Grants

Funding is available to support a number of students presenting papers at the meeting. Application for student funding must be provided with paper submission. The level of grant will depend on available funds, the quality of the paper and the student's country of residence.
